March 7 Update

SPOTLIGHT ON FARMINGTON

Farmington, AR, was the first city to catch the vision and join HAMMRC. Mayor Ernie Penn provided valuable leadership as the Board Chair during his first year and has been reelected to serve another one-year term. Farmington has a population of 8,032 and is projected to continue growing.

In his "State of the City" address, Mayor Penn said, "I am pleased to report that our City is financially sound and we have maintained excellent cash reserves." He went on to say, "Farmington continues to be a very attractive place for families to locate and send their children to school. Our outstanding school and its facilities continues to be one of the most attractive features of our community. I think it is very important for our City to continue to work in conjunction with the Farmington Chamber of Commerce and Farmington Schools to help build Farmington into a more attractive place for families and businesses to locate."

Using the HAMMRC promise of "a seat at the table," Mayor Penn led tours of local buildings for a medical manufacturing prospect company. Our HAMMRC team considers that company a live prospect and is following up.

OPPORTUNITY TO COMMUNICATE WITH YOUR LEGISLATORS TODAY!

Join the Fayetteville Chamber and HAMMRC in the NWA Fab Lab Innovation Center for our "Face to Face with Your Legislators” event. State Legislators representing Fayetteville and NWA will gather to answer your questions about proposed bills and give a brief review of the current legislative issues. Previously, these events were known as the "Legislative Forums."

Chamber Fayetteville will be hosting this event every Friday from 4 pm - 5 pm while the Legislature is in session.

"Face to Face with Your Legislator" is your opportunity to meet, speak with, voice your opinion, and pose your questions to elected officials in the Arkansas Senate and Arkansas House of Representatives. This is an excellent opportunity to get to know lawmakers.

"Face to Face with Your Legislators" will run through the end of the Legislative Session. The session is scheduled to last for 12-13 weeks. Any variation in that schedule will be announced here in the Chamber Newsletter and on Chamber Social Media.

The NWA Fab Lab Innovation Center is located on the first floor of the 21 W. Mountain Building. If you are coming from the square, you will need to take the stairs or elevator down to the first level to get to suite#123. There is signage on the Fab Lab doors and a suite number clearly marked.

Operating under a three-year grant from the Walton Family Foundation, the Pipeline program's purpose is to train community leaders on "foundational community and economic development principles, and positively impact and uplift the economies and quality of life of communities whose leaders participate in the program."

Our communities in Washington County are eligible to compete for 25 seats in the program.

Deadline to apply is March 24th.

Northwest Arkansas Regional Robotics Training Center
